Mitchell Nelli

ABOUT ME
Hello, my name is Mitchell Nelli, I majored in Digital Media at Joliet Junior College.
My passion is videography and photography. I have been fortunate enough to create and lead a video production club at my college, allowing me to develop my skills and techniques with video and photography. Using my years of experience, mentoring, and trusted equipment, I strive to give my clients and employers a product that they are proud to show to the public along with meeting their expectations.
"That being said, I would like to show you more of who I am!"
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A CREATOR?

Creativity is something that I always am striving to improve. From drafting a basic marketing plan to fine tuning keyword searches in Google adwords, there always has to be something that a marketer or graphic designer can improve or build upon. I picked up a camcorder during my last year of highschool and it stopped me from making the hasty decision of joining the military.
That Camcorder opened up my eyes to the beauty of visual effects and story telling.
DND AND HOW IT'S RELEVANT
What is "DnD" you may ask? Well to put it simply, it is a board game in which you make up a story, role-play special characters, and roll dice! This game is a part of my hobbies and I absolutely love it! Me and friends meet up weekly to play this game, have snacks and drinks, and have a great time doing so!
I usually take the task of being the storyteller in this game, and it is an extremely hard task at times. I have to write my story, include hundreds of characters, their thoughts, feelings, even how they sound! I have to do many calculations in my head on the fly, all while making sure the other players are having fun. I have thousands of words written just for one 5 hour session of playing, even if the players do not progress through the entire story, I have to make sure they are ready to move forward.
In summary, DnD is one of the most stimulating things one can do to increase their creativity, neuroplasticity, and social interactions. I am glad I can create long epics that me and my friends can enjoy while inspring courage, negotiation, and passion.
EMBRACING THE FUN SIDE OF LIFE

I believe that embracing your hobbies, and having fun is a requirement in the field of marketing and graphic design. Constantly working dulls your mind, opening up yourself to making more mistakes and losing passion. The American standard 8 hour a day work week is a flawed system, and not for employees, for employers. The 8 hours worked can be grueling and the old American ways of no breaks and encouragement to keep working for so long just result in less hours actually worked. These standards will take decades to change, and therefore, you must adapt by disconnecting yourself from your workplace after you are done. I live by these words by going out to state parks in my Jurassic Park Jeep, and volunteering my time to local hospitals and birthday parties!

LEARNING NEW THINGS

If you only focus on working and just your work field, you will become narrow minded and not be able to branch out to new areas. Getting involved with new things refreshes and challenges your mind, which is extremely important to your creativity and innovation. I am currently learning Vietnamese as well as working towards a TESOL license to teach English. I also am learning Shakuhachi, which is a Japanese Flute. These Endeavors keep me active and stop myself from being content in my creativeness!
